Shangri La Museum Rebranding

Project Overview
I joined Shangri La Museum as the Associate Curator of Digital and Emerging Media, one of my first tasks was to develope a new visual identity for the museum.

The museum, which was the former home of Doris Duke in Honolulu, sought to shed it's former identity as an exclusive, inaccessible place to be more welcoming in order to reach a broader audience. Additionally, the museum lacked consistent graphic standards - there were even multiple logo variations floating around.
My Contributions
My first priority was to design a new logo and develop a set of graphic standards that included a new color palette as well as graphic elements that could be used in a variety of ways in print and web.

The museum, which has a collection of 'Islamic Art' has many works of art with extremly vibrant colors, which I wanted to highlight. The chosen colors all derived from items in the collection. we chose to preserve the orange color from the previous logo for continuity.

Once we had settled on a new set of graphic standards, I set about redesigning other elements including stationary and business cards, museum signage, and eventually the website. .
